From The Two For The Price Of One Dept

From The Two For The Price Of One Dept.: Today is the birthday of two of the bright lights in today’s Blues orbit: GARY CLARK, JR. and ALEXIS P. SUTER. Catch them when they come your way!! By chance, they also both appear in my book BLUES HANDS.
Gary Clark, Jr. – Born in 1984, Clark is being called the face and future of the Blues. He got his start as a teenager when legendary Texas club owner Clifford Antone supported him and introduced him to Austin’s best, such as Jimmy Vaughan, Denny Freeman and Derek O’Brien. Rolling Stone declared Clark "Best Young Gun" in its April 2011 "Best of Rock" issue. He’s acted in films, played at the White House, toured with Eric Clapton, and received both Grammy and Blues Music Awards.
Alexis P. Suter – Alexis possesses a powerful bass/baritone voice and a commanding presence. Her mother was a noted Gospel singer and Alexis sang in church as a youth. She and the Alexis P. Suter Band were regulars at Levon Helm’s legendary Midnight Rambles, opening more than 90 of those shows in Woodstock, NY. She continues to perform and record in both Blues and Gospel contexts. I’m proud and pleased to call her a friend.
